Dentistry Enhancing Health.
Matthew trained at the University of Queensland. On graduating he practiced in Cairns and on Cape York for two years. He then spent six months in the Maxillo-Facial Surgery Unit of the Royal Adelaide Hospital before returning to Queensland and private practice.
In 1991 Matthew bought Dr John Weir’s Dental Practice in Elphinstone St, North Rockhampton, which he relocated to Berserker St in 1997. As well as his Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland, he has also earned a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control) from the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advance Dental Studies and usually travels to the USA three or more times a year to enhance his skills in the field of Neuromuscular Dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, his family of Jackie, Caitlin, Chloe, William and Lara are integral to his life. His interests include flying an aged Piper Cherokee and looking after a small grazing property near Crow’s Nest.
Deb began her career in the dental industry in 1992 as a dental assistant and after a number of years away from the industry joined Matthew’s team and graduated as an Oral Health Therapist from the University of Queensland in 2001. Deb has recently returned to Rockhampton after time away pursuing other interests – she has a strong belief in the maxim of “Healthy landscapes = Healthy Food = Happy, healthy people”. She is excited to return to her preferred profession to work as part of a great team. Deb’s other interests include – Colonial Homes, House Restoration, Antiques and Vintage finds.
Jolene is a Dental Hygienist at our practice. She first started working here as a dental assistant when she was 16 years old. After a lot of preliminary study, Jolene enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Oral Hygiene course at Gilles Plains in Adelaide and won many awards and academic prizes on her way through the course. She returned to Rockhampton in 2014 with a commitment to dental health and an acute awareness of the relationship between dental and general health. Jolene has taken our hygiene department to a whole new level. Her bubbly personality and attention to detail will put everyone at ease.
Outside of work, Jolene’s interests include cake decoration and competing in Downhill Mountain Biking.
Jolene is currently on leave until July 2017.
